2 killed in car collision on Indian School Road in Phoenix

PHOENIX — Two people have died as a result of injuries sustained in a collision on Saturday morning.
Authorities said that a sedan driven by a 23-year-old man collided with another car on Indian School Road and 31st Avenue in Phoenix.
Both the driver and the passenger in the Scion that was hit were pronounced deceased at the hospital, while the driver of the Chrysler sedan that hit them is also in a hospital with serious injuries, according to Phoenix police.
The driver of the Chrysler, identified later as Elidio Saenz, was released from the hospital on Sunday afternoon and booked into Maricopa County Jail on two counts of manslaughter.
Police identified the victims as 27-year-old Wilder Uriel Diaz-Gomez and 18-year-old Yahir Uriel-Diaz.
Authorities said the Chrysler sedan that reportedly caused the collision was traveling at a high rate of speed down Indian School Road when it hit the Scion as it was turning left onto 31st Avenue.
Saenz did not show signs of impairment, police said when initially reporting the crash.
The investigation into the collision is ongoing.
