PHOENIX – Two people in a delivery truck survived a 20-foot drop off a freeway onto the street below Monday, authorities said.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety said the truck veered out of a lane on southbound Interstate 17 near the 19th Avenue ramp and smashed through the guard rail around 3 p.m.
The driver and passenger crawled out of the crushed vehicle without serious injury. The truck did not appear to have landed on any other vehicles when it crashed onto the road.
The unidentified pair was taken to a hospital as a precaution.
An investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
