PHOENIX — The Mesa Police Department has arrested a suspect in connection with a string of bank robberies in Arizona and Utah, the FBI said in a press release Thursday.
Officers arrested 39-year-old Maria Azevedo on Monday without incident, according to the release.
She is facing charges over eight robberies beginning in August.
The final robbery, a Desert Financial Credit Union in Mesa, occurred the day Azevedo was arrested.
Seven robberies happened around the Valley, with four taking place in Mesa, two in Gilbert and one in Apache Junction. The other was in Saratoga Springs, Utah.
The suspect approached the teller and presented a demand note during each robbery, according to the release.
Nobody was physically injured during the bank robberies.
