PHOENIX — The state’s largest fresh-cut Christmas tree arrived at the Outlets at Anthem on Thursday as the holiday season draws closer.
The 70-foot-tall tree will be illuminated by more than 1.5 miles of LED lights, according to a press release, and feature more than 5,000 ornaments and bows.
Topping the tree will be a 3-foot copper star, in honor of the state’s official metal.
While the tree was put up on Thursday, the official lighting will take place on Nov. 21 as part of A Merry Family Night event at the shopping complex just off Interstate-17 and Anthem Way.
It took a 40-foot flatbed trailer to deliver the 20-foot-wide tree that originated from the California/Oregon border and a heavy-duty construction crane to place it into the seven-foot-deep well.
Once complete, the tree will weigh close to four tons, according to the release.
The tree will be displayed throughout the holiday season.
