Phoenix Fire Department battles early morning fire in abandoned building

PHOENIX — Fire crews rushed to save an abandoned building engulfed in flames early on Saturday morning near 39th Avenue and Camelback Road.
The Phoenix Fire Department discovered the fire at approximately 4:30 a.m. Crews were able to quickly link hoses to fire hydrants for water supplies and cut holes in the building for ventilation.
“Crews were able to successfully extinguish the blaze,” Phoenix Fire Department PIO Captain Scott Douglas said in a release.
No one was injured and the cause of the fire is under investigation, according to the release.
The fire department described the building as an abandoned single-story business.
No further information was given at this time.
