PHOENIX – Cindy McCain appeared in a new ad that launched this weekend from Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s campaign.

Cindy McCain, the widow of former Arizona Sen. John McCain, was the focal point of a new ad called “Like John Did.” The ad highlights how Biden, like Sen. McCain, will put his country first when it comes to handling the coronavirus pandemic, taking care of veterans and more.

“Now more than ever we need a president who will put service before self, a president who will lead with courage and compassion, not ego,” Cindy McCain said in the ad.

In the new ad, she details how Biden and John McCain would battle on the Senate floor but always put their friendship and their country first.

“Joe Biden will always fight for the American people, just like John did,” she said.

Cindy McCain announced in September that she was endorsing Biden. Although she would not switch her party affiliation, Cindy McCain said she was backing the Democratic nominee because Biden is what this country needs.

The ad premiered Saturday in Arizona and nationally on Sunday on Fox News. It was also scheduled to air on 60 Minutes and during NFL football games on Sunday.

Arizona is a key battleground state for the November presidential election. Biden and running mate Kamala Harris visited the state last week for the first time this election cycle.

Cindy McCain joined Biden and Harris at the Heard Museum in Phoenix to meet with Arizona tribal leaders in one of the Democratic ticket’s campaign stops.

According to FiveThirtyEight.com, Biden holds a 3.9 point advantage over incumbent Republican President Donald Trump.
