PHOENIX — Arizona Snowbowl is set to debut its state-of-the-art Arizona Gondola during the upcoming season.
The Arizona Gondola will transport guests up 2,000 feet in just seven minutes, about half the time it took the Agassiz lift.
“With the Arizona Gondola, we are ushering in a new era,” Arizona Snowbowl General Manager Rob Linde said in a press release.
“More than an upgrade, this high-tech combination lift will redefine the alpine experience at Snowbowl and set a new standard for ski areas across the state.”
The gondola, which replaces the Agassiz lift, will run as a combination detachable chairlift and gondola.
The lift, billed as the longest, highest and most advanced in the state, will feature an eight-person cabin that will be interspersed with two six-person chairs through the upcoming ski season.
Skiers will be able load and unload using the same process as Snowbowl’s other lifts. Cabin passengers will load and unload on the opposite side of the terminals.
Snowbowl said it doesn’t expect traffic at the top of the mountain to increase because of the new lift.
The Arizona Gondola will also be in service for summer and fall rides.
Ski season at Arizona Snowbowl is set to begin Nov. 20 with public safety measures in place because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
