Medieval Times seeks volunteers to sew masks from costume material

SCOTTSDALE — Medieval Times is looking for Valley volunteers to help sew more than 1,000 masks from the dinner theater’s costume material.
The masks will be donated to the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community and United Food Bank, according to a press release on Thursday.
Volunteers can sign up online to participate.
Prospective volunteers will receive boxes containing pre-cut fabric pieces for the front and back of masks, as well as elastic material.

The boxes can be picked up and dropped off at the company’s Scottsdale location on Via de Ventura from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The Centers for Disease Control considers cloth masks, such as the ones Medieval Times is donating, to not be a substitute for N-95 respirators or surgical masks, though the apparel can help slow the spread of the coronavirus.
The Texas-based chain, which has 10 locations across the United States and Canada, is best known for its jousting competitions and 11th-century castle facades.
The company opened its only Arizona location in 2019.
