PHOENIX — Surprise Police Department officers on Monday arrested a 60-year-old man suspected in the 1st-degree murder of his wife.

Around 3:10 a.m., the department received a call from Lisa Hollingsworth, 55, stating she had been shot and needed help, authorities said.

Officers then arrived at a residence in the area of 133rd Avenue and Caribbean Lane and located the Lisa’s husband — Elbert Hollingsworth — in the driveway of the residence.

Upon entering the residence, officers found Lisa had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

She was then transported to a west Valley hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Elbert Hollingsworth was booked into the Maricopa County jail.

No other information was immediately available.
