PHOENIX — All 15 Arizona counties have now reported at least one death due to coronavirus after Santa Cruz reported its first on Monday.

The COVID-19 death in Santa Cruz County was a male over the age of 65 with underlying health conditions.

The man had been hospitalized at a Tucson medical facility, Santa Cruz County said in a press release.

“On behalf of Santa Cruz County, we express our deepest condolences to the family,” Jeff Terrell, Santa Cruz County health director, said in the release. “COVID-19 is a dangerous disease, especially to those individuals with underlying health conditions, regardless of their age.”

The death in Santa Cruz came a day after Greenlee County reported its first COVID-19 death.

The Arizona Department of Health Services has not reported the COVID-19 deaths in Santa Cruz and Greenlee counties on its official dashboard.

The state health department reported a total of 917 deaths and 20,123 cases as of Monday morning.
