Firefighters battle fire at Sizzler restaurant in Mesa

PHOENIX — A Sizzler restaurant in Mesa caught fire on early Tuesday morning, according to authorities.

The incident started at around 4:30 a.m. on Country Club Drive just north of Southern Avenue.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is unknown at this time, according to authorities.

Firefighters used a defensive strategy due to the instability of the structure, officials said.

Mesa fire crews gained control of the fire just before 7 a.m., but the building sustained significant damage, authorities said.

No other information was made immediately available.
