PHOENIX — A three-year-old girl died Saturday evening after being pulled from a backyard pool, according to the Glendale Fire Department.
The event occurred just before 4 p.m. at an Airbnb in north Glendale.
Visiting from out of state, a family had approximately 12 people in the backyard, which included multiple children under the age of 10, according to authorities.
Family members were reportedly distracted by another child when the 3-year-old girl fell into the pool unnoticed, officials said.
After being pulled from the pool after an unknown amount of time, a family member began to perform CPR.
A neighbor, who is also a nurse, heard the commotion and came over to assist the family with CPR until the arrival of first responders.
Upon arrival, the 3-year-old girl was not breathing on her own and did not have a pulse, authorities said.
Firefighters began life-saving interventions and transported the child to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead, officials said.
Crisis response teams were on scene to aid the family.
There was no fence around the pool.
