Westbound I-10 in West Valley reopens after fatal crash

PHOENIX – A fatal crash shut down Interstate 10 in a suburb west of Phoenix early Friday, authorities said.

The accident in Buckeye closed westbound lanes from Verrado Way to Watson Road shortly before 5 a.m. and lasted until about 8:30 a.m.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety said a commercial vehicle was involved.

An eastbound lane also was blocked for a while, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

No other details were immediately available.
