PHOENIX — The Boeing plant in Mesa – along with 11 other company sites across the country – are producing face shields using 3D printers to be delivered to medical professionals fighting the coronavirus outbreak.
The first shipment of 2,300 masks was delivered on Friday morning to the Department of Health and Human Services, which will then be delivered to the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas, Texas, according to the company’s website.
Face shields produced by the company feature a 3D-printed frame with an adjustable headband, allowing it to be easily snapped onto the frame.
Once the frames, headbands and shields are created, the items are shipped to the Boeing site in St. Louis where the face shields are assembled and prepared for shipping, according to the website.
