PHOENIX — A staff member of the Pima Unified School District exposed to the coronavirus has tested positive, according to a Facebook post from the district.
The staff member is from Pima Elementary School. The district is just north of Safford, Ariz. in Graham County in the southeast part of the state.
The district had originally been closed on Thursday after it learned of a possible exposure.
“We have received a report of possible exposure to an unknown illness for some students at Pima Elementary School,” the district said in a Facebook post Wednesday night.
The school is always closed on Fridays and next week spring break is scheduled.
Earlier Friday, a second presumptive case of coronavirus in Pima County was confirmed, bringing the total in the state to 10.
That was the first Arizona one to be announced since Wednesday, when a total of three cases were reported.
Five of the cases are in Pinal County while an additional three are in Maricopa County.
