Scottsdale reptile sanctuary to hold adoptions at various PetSmarts

PHOENIX — Have you been thinking about adopting a reptile?

PetSmart and the Phoenix Herpetological Sanctuary will have critters up for adoption Saturday to raise money to support the PHS.

From 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, several PetSmart locations around the Valley will offer reptiles. There is a $10 adoption fee for a turtle while other animals, including snakes, lizards and tortoises, will cost more money to adopt.

The PHS will provide information to help owners properly care for the animal.

The sanctuary, which is a non-profit organization, houses hundreds of native and exotic reptiles, many of which are endangered and in breeding programs.
