Yavapai County residents startled by early morning loud boom

PHOENIX –Yavapai County residents received a loud wake-up call Sunday morning.

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office received multiple calls from across the county around 7:20 a.m. to reports of a loud explosion or boom.

YCSO said the best explanation for the sound is a meteor event, which many residents say they witnessed, but there is no official explanation.

UPDATE – 9:45AM – So far some type of meteor event, as witnessed by numerous residents in the area, seems to be the best…

According to their Facebook page, the FAA did not have any information and Luke Air Force Base did not have any jet traffic in the air at that time.

YCSO had deputies check their patrol areas for any possible sources, but the source is still unknown.
