Man dies after bar shooting in north Phoenix

PHOENIX — One man has died after being shot at a bar in north Phoenix on early Saturday morning, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

The incident occurred at Loft Again bar near Cave Creek and Greenway roads around 12:45 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers found 43-year-old Charles Porter with gunshot wounds and transported him to a local hospital where he later died, according to police.

The suspect, 31-year-old Brandon Mitchell, was arrested on scene without incident and faces one count of murder in the second degree and one count of assault, police said.

Authorities learned Mitchell had assaulted another male in the bar and Porter had confronted Mitchell about the assault. Mitchell then shot Porter.

No other information was made available at this time.

The investigation is still ongoing.
