PHOENIX — A man allegedly broke into multiple rooms at an apartment complex and yelled to residents of one that he had a bomb and used the phrase “Allahu Akbar,” a Glendale police report states.
Myron Tyquan Clark, 31, was accused of breaking into an apartment complex that his grandmother lived in near 67th Avenue and Bethany Home Road around 4 a.m. on Jan. 4. He had been kicked out of the apartment due to drug use, according to the police report.
Clark broke in through a window and landed on the woman and a 5-year-old who were asleep. He exited the apartment through a different window.
Police were called to the location. When they arrived, they heard noise from a nearby apartment room.
Clark was accused of pounding on the door of that apartment, yelling “I have a bomb!” at the seven residents inside. He broke through a window and the occupants barricaded themselves in a back bedroom.
Clark allegedly tried to break down the door while they held it shut and called for help out the bedroom window.
Officers arrived at the top of the stairs outside the apartment room and Clark jumped back through the broken window, according to the document. He allegedly screamed “Allahu Akbar” and continued yelling that he had a bomb.
An officer drew his gun and Clark came after the police officer, allegedly grabbing the barrel of the gun while punching him in the face and tackling him down the stairwell. On the ground, Clark allegedly choked the officer while punching and digging his fingers into the officer’s eye.
Two other officers grabbed Clark and hit him in the head, but Clark began punching them. The officers tased Clark and arrested him.
While he was taken into custody, Clark said he had a bomb in his backpack.
Police believe Clark has gang ties. He was previously documented as a Broadway Gangster, according to the police report.
Clark has six prior felony convictions and was released from prison in August.
He faces nine charges including multiple counts of aggravated assault and criminal damage.
