PHOENIX – It’s getting closer and closer to the time when people will say goodbye to another year and welcome in 2020.
Seven Arizona cities and towns are found in WalletHub’s best places to celebrate the occasion, including three in the top 50. The list compiled the 100 most populated cities in the United States and ranked them based on entertainment and food, costs, and safety and accessibility.
Scottsdale came in as the best Arizona city to celebrate New Year’s Eve at No. 22, with Tucson (No. 38), Phoenix (No. 50), Mesa (No. 56), Chandler (No. 64), Gilbert (No. 68) and Glendale (No. 91) making up the rest of Arizona municipalities on the list.
Scottsdale is one of the safest places in the country to celebrate New Year’s Eve with a ranking of No. 5.
Chandler is also ranked high in safety, coming in at No. 9.
The state is one the best places to stay if people want to save money on lodging, with two Arizona cities (Mesa and Gilbert) being listed as having some of the lowest prices for three-star hotel rooms on New Year’s Eve.
Arizona is also the place for cheap wine with Phoenix, Mesa, Chandler and Gilbert making the list for the lowest average wine prices.
In terms of overall costs, Gilbert is one of the cheapest areas in the country to celebrate the holiday, coming in at No. 3.
While Arizona received high praise in many areas, some smaller Valley suburbs didn’t rank as high due to fewer amenities.
Gilbert made the list of fewest nightlife options, luxury shops, gourmet-food shops and fewest restaurants per capita.
Glendale was also one of the cities with the fewest restaurants per capita.
Unsurprisingly, New York ranked as the top place in the country to ring in the New Year.
The city that never sleeps has the most nightlife options, restaurants, luxury shops and gourmet-food stores per capita.
All these amenities come for a hefty price as New York is dead last in costs, according to the rankings.
