Young Phoenix police officer killed in off-duty motorcycle accident

PHOENIX – Phoenix Police said Tuesday an off-duty officer has died in an traffic accident.
Police said Officer Blake Newman was killed Monday night around 11 p.m. after his motorcycle hit a curb near 95th Avenue and Cardinals Way in Glendale.
The 25-year-old lost control of the motorcycle and crashed.
Police said Newman was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Newman joined the Phoenix Police Department in June 2018 and patrolled the Maryvale-Estrella Mountain precinct.
The Glendale Police Department was investigating the crash.
