PHOENIX — An Ahwatukee holiday house that has been around for more than 40 years is going to get its moment in the spotlight this Thanksgiving.
The Santa Train will be the subject of HGTV’s “Outrageous Holiday Houses” holiday special at 9 p.m. on Thursday.
Frank and Dianne Polimene’s unique home, which has been in the Valley for the past 29 years, is worthy of the notoriety.
It features 25,000 LED lights and its famous Christmas train, which is activated by car headlights and starts when high beams are flashed.
The train goes by a crossing gate and a color-changing volcano, and has other specialized perks as it makes its revolution, including sequential lighting and a dancing Santa.
The house has other non-train perks as well.
There’s a rotating Christmas tree, Ferris Wheel with LED lights, snow making, a pop-up holiday band and more.
The display is supposed to open to the public on Thursday, but could potentially be moved back because of the weather.
An updated schedule for the house is available on the website.
Once open, the Santa Train will be available for viewing until 10 p.m. every night until Jan. 1.
