Silicon Valley Bank to expand office in Tempe, hire 300
PHOENIX — Silicon Valley Bank announced plans Tuesday to expand its presence in the Valley and hire hundreds more employees.
The California-based bank will move in to an additional 60,000 square feet of office space in the Hayden Ferry Office Complex near Tempe Town Lake early next year, according to a press release.
The company also plans to hire 300 people in the next three years in roles including finance, operations and information technology.
“Silicon Valley Bank brings not only financial opportunities and assistance to Tempe businesses, including tech startups, it brings extremely good jobs to Tempe,” Mayor Mark Mitchell said in the release.
“These positions use future-looking skills that will keep Tempe on the leading edge for our workforce.”
Silicon Valley Bank serves half of all venture-backed companies in the U.S. and was named to Fortune’s 100 fastest-growing companies list this year.
The bank currently employs about 700 people in its Tempe office, which opened in 2012. The expansion will increase its total office space to 190,000 square feet.
“We’re pleased to expand our presence in Arizona and continue to attract outstanding talent from the Tempe region,” Phil Cox, chief operations officer, said in the release.
