Seven Arizona breweries win big at Great American Beer Festival

PHOENIX – Arizona did not walk away from the Great American Beer Festival empty-handed.
Seven craft beers brewed right here in the Grand Canyon State won medals from the competition that took place this past weekend in Denver, Colorado.
The medalists were: Huss Brewing’s Oktoberfest; Historic Brewing’s Salt River; O.H.S.O Brewery + Distillery’s Boom Dynamite; Wren House Brewing’s Valley Beer; SunUp Brewing’s White Russian; MotoSonora Brewing’s Go Kart Mozart; and Saddle Mountain Brewing’s Taildragger Clan-Destine.
Saddle Mountain Brewing in Goodyear, Historic Brewing in Flagstaff, and MotoSonora in Tucson took home gold medals for their beers.
Phoenix breweries O.H.S.O and Wren House were awarded silver medals and Tempe’s Huss Brewing also received a silver medal.
SunUp Brewing of Phoenix earned a bronze medal for their brew.

According to the Great American Beer Festival’s website, the criteria to win a gold medal is, “a world-class beer that accurately exemplifies the specified style, displaying the proper balance of taste, aroma, and appearance.”
Over 300 breweries left Denver with a medal.
