PHOENIX — A pizza shop is the latest business to close in Tempe’s popular downtown district.
NYPD Pizza’s last day of operations at its location near Third Street and Mill Avenue was Friday, according to ABC 15.
A note posted at the restaurant said it was “unable to continue operations in this location as it is currently structured.”
“We cannot thank you enough for the wonderful memories and privilege of breaking bread with you for all these years and we also thank you for your understanding and your loyalty,” NYPD Pizza CEO Nikki West said in the note.
The restaurant, which opened in the summer of 2014, wasn’t the only to close its Tempe doors in recent months.
The Gordon Biersch brewery on Fifth Street and Mill Avenue closed in July after nearly 20 years.
Restaurant Mexico, a Tempe staple since the 1970s, closed in August and will be replaced by a Taco Bell Cantina.
NYPD Pizza now has eight Valley restaurants plus two locations at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport.
