PHOENIX – A construction worker was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after the dump truck he was operating in Mesa overturned Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
The man in his 30s was working in a Komatsu heavy haul dump truck when it rolled over in a dirt pile around 3 p.m. near Greenfield Road and the Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway, Deputy Chief Forrest Smith of the Mesa Fire and Medical Department said via email.
Crews worked to free the man, who was trapped in the cage of the vehicle’s driver’s compartment, and he was flown by air ambulance to a trauma center.
The Mesa Police Department was investigating the incident, Smith said.
