PHOENIX — Arizonans once again generously emptied their pockets for a good cause.

The 11th annual Give-A-Thon for Phoenix Children’s Hospital raised a record $1.8 million during a 19-hour radio simulcast on KTAR News 92.3 FM and 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Give-A-Thon for PCH also maintained its position as the top children’s hospital fundraiser in the country.

Since 2009, the event has raised more than $14.6 million.

“The community stepped up again during Give-A-Thon,” said Steve Schnall, Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation’s senior vice president and chief development officer.

“Each year it is incredible to see the donations and generosity from all. The efforts of our friends at KTAR News and Arizona’s Sports Station is unmatched. Thanks to them, we can continue to provide the absolute best care to children in Arizona.”

Last year, Give-A-Thon also brought in a record amount of donations.

KTAR News and Arizona Sports set aside their prime time programming schedules for nearly two days for the Give-A-Thon, which featured emotional, heart-breaking stories about the children and families whose lives are forever changed by the care they receive at the hospital.

Give-A-Thon sponsors included presenting sponsor Valley Hyundai Dealers, Carl’s Jr., The UPS Store, ACE Hardware, Trane and Arizona Central Credit Union.

“Give-A-Thon is two of the best days of the year. To once again be the largest fundraiser in the country for a children’s hospital speaks volumes about the people of Arizona,” said Scott Sutherland, Vice President and Market Manager of Bonneville Phoenix, which operates KTAR News 92.3, 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station and ESPN Phoenix.

“The support of our Give-A-Thon sponsors continues to amaze us. They embrace the PCH mission and inspire their employees and customers to contribute.”

All donations made during the Phoenix Children’s Hospital Give-A-Thon go towards funding cutting-edge research, clinical programs, state-of-the-art equipment and family-friendly services that help ensure that the hospital can provide world-class care to each and every child that needs it.

Phoenix Children’s Hospital is one of the largest children’s hospitals in the nation with 433 beds.
