PHOENIX — Several Valley fire departments are offering free CPR training during August.
Mesa Fire and Medical, Scottsdale Fire and Goodyear Fire are among the departments offering free classes for drowning impact awareness month.
The classes are in partnership with SRP and the Drowning Prevention Coalition of Arizona.
“This is our second year to partner with the DPCA and our Valley fire departments in this effort,” SRP Safety Connection Community Outreach Representative Regina Lane-Haycock said in a press release. “We know that CPR is the last line of defense if all other layers of protection have failed. It is important to provide access to this training to our community.”
A list of free classes is available on the DPCA website’s calendar page.
Most classes have age restrictions and are held on Saturdays.
SRP spokeswoman Patty Likens said in an email that the participating departments anticipate on adding more training dates throughout the month.
Some classes are for certification and others are for awareness, per the release.
