PHOENIX — The Arizona Humane Society said Tuesday that it rescued three puppies from a dumpster in Phoenix this week.
The animal welfare group said one of its animal cruelty investigators found five puppies in a black duffel bag in a dumpster Monday near Seventh Avenue and Baseline Road.
Two puppies had died, the group said, and their bodies were taken to Midwestern University to determine cause of death.
The animal rescue nonprofit said the three surviving female 11-week-old Chihuahua mixes are in good health. They will likely be up for adoption on Thursday after they are spayed.
Anyone with information on the incident was asked to call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
