PHOENIX – Some guys have all the luck. There are nine men in Arizona who have billions of dollars to throw around, according to a Forbes list of the world’s extremely wealthy.

The business magazine recently released its annual list of billionaires and DriveTime magnate Ernest Garcia II and retired U-Haul vice president Mark Shoen were the richest Arizonans on the list.

They tied with a net worth of $3.2 billion apiece.

The magazine said it used stock prices and exchange rates from Feb. 8, 2019, to compile the list. Everyone had to have an estimated net worth of at least $1 billion.

In no surprise, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos topped the overall list with a net worth of $131 billion. Three of the top five were Americans: Microsoft founder Bill Gates followed Bezos with $96.5 billion, and investor Warren Buffett was third at $82.5 billion.

Arizona’s big money makers don’t appear on the list until nearly the 700th spot.

Others on the list included Los Angeles Angels owner Arte Moreno, who grew up in Tucson, and GoDaddy founder Bob Parsons, whose company is headquartered in Scottsdale.
