PHOENIX – The American Red Cross is partnering with HBO’s “Game of Thrones” to get more Arizonans to donate blood.

Donors who give by March 17 will be entered for a chance to win one of five trips to the show’s season eight premiere.

Those who donate March 7-12 will also receive an exclusive “Game of Thrones” T-shirt and sticker.

The Red Cross said it is experiencing a severe shortage of Type O blood and is urging people all over the state to donate.

Type O blood is the most in demand because it can be transferred to patients of any blood type, but the nonprofit is in need of donations for all blood types.

The recent severe weather has forced hundreds of blood drive cancellations, according to a Red Cross press release.

“Right now, the Red Cross has less than a three-day supply of most blood types, and blood products are being distributed to hospitals faster than donations are coming in,” the nonprofit said in the release.

The Red Cross is offering many opportunities to donate all over Arizona through the end of March.

Anyone interested can make an appointment by downloading the Blood Donor App, visiting the Red Cross’s website, or calling 1-800-RED CROSS.

We want to hear from you.
