PHOENIX — A 21-year-old man was sentenced Friday for the drive-by shooting death of a 16-year-old girl in Phoenix four years ago.
Superior Court spokesman Bryan Bouchard said in an email that Jason Lindsey was sentenced to life in prison for the 2015 murder of Niani Rayshawn Allen.
Lindsey was found guilty on charges of first-degree murder, aggravated assault and drive-by shooting in November.
Allen died shortly after she was shot on Feb. 20, 2015 while she was riding in a car with three other passengers near 67th Avenue and Broadway Road.
Police said Lindsey admitted to shooting at the sedan, but denied that he was trying to hurt anyone inside.
Lindsey was one of six people in the vehicle from which shots were fired.
Detectives said the shooting started as a fight between teenagers as they left a basketball game at Sierra Linda High School.
