PHOENIX – A Phoenix animal shelter is offering junior and family volunteer camps on Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday.

The events will be held at the Arizona Animal Welfare League (15 N. 40th Place), the state’s largest and oldest no-kill shelter.

On Thursday, the AAWL will hold a junior volunteer camp where kids ages 8-17 can participate in the shelter’s usual volunteer duties. It runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and costs $30 per child.

Activities, led by a trained educator, will include cleaning cat and dog living spaces, sorting and folding laundry, socializing the animals and more.

On Friday, there will be a family volunteer camp for parents and children ages 6-17 to attend together. It runs from 2-4 p.m. and cost $10 per adult and $5 per child, with a maximum of five people per family.
