These Arizona school districts will be closed Monday for teacher walkout

PHOENIX — Multiple school districts across Arizona will remain closed Monday as a statewide walkout over pay and education funding stretched into a new week.

Educators and supporters gathered at the state Capitol on Thursday and Friday to protest low pay and unacceptable school conditions.

An estimated 54,000 people participated in the rallies over the two-day period.

Arizona Education Association President Joe Thomas announced plans for a third day of walkouts Monday.

The districts that have announced that its schools would be closed for the walkouts included:

• Alhambra Elementary District

• Amphitheater Public Schools

• Apache Junction Unified School District

• Balsz School District

• Cartwright School District

• Catalina Foothills School District

• Chandler Unified School District

• Cottonwood-Oak Creek School District

• Deer Valley Unified School District

• Dysart Unified School District

• Flagstaff Unified School District

• Florence Unified School District

• Flowing Wells Unified School District

• Gilbert Public School District

• Glendale Elementary School District

• Glendale Union High School District

• Higley Unified School District

• Humboldt Unified School District

• J.O. Combs Unified School District

• Kingman Unified School District: All schools except Mount Tipton and La Senita will be closed.

• Kyrene School District

• Laveen School District: All schools will operate on a half-day schedule.

• Liberty Elementary School District

• Litchfield Elementary School District

• Madison Elementary School District

• Marana Unified School District

• Maricopa Unified School District

• Mesa Public Schools

• Osborn School District

• Paradise Valley Unified School District

• Pendergast Elementary School District

• Peoria Unified School District
• Phoenix Elementary School District

• Phoenix Union High School District

• Queen Creek Unified School District

• Roosevelt School District

• Sahuarita Unified School District

• Scottsdale Unified School District

• Sierra Vista Unified School District

• Sunnyside Unified School District

• Tempe Elementary School District

• Tempe Union High School District

• Tolleson Elementary School District

• Tucson Unified School District

• Washington Elementary School District

• Winslow Unified School District

• Yuma Elementary School District

• Yuma Union High School District
