PHOENIX — Could it be?

Phoenix is expected to see rainfall starting Tuesday for the first time since the clock struck midnight on New Year’s Day and everyone changed their calendars to 2018.

According to The Weather Channel, there is at least a 20 percent chance that Phoenix could see rainfall on Tuesday and an 80 percent chance on Tuesday night.

While the chance of rainfall shoots right back down to 10 percent by Wednesday, having such a high percentage on Tuesday is a good sign: The Valley hasn’t seen the wet stuff since December, when it rained not once but twice in a two-week period.

But before December, Phoenix hadn’t received rain in more than 100 days. Zero measurable rain fell in Phoenix during the months of September, October and November in 2017 for the first time in 79 years.

The Valley hasn’t been the only Arizona city to experience a particularly dry winter season: Flagstaff hasn’t seen measurable amounts of snow all winter.

The latest Flagstaff went without snow was Jan. 15 back in 2006. By this time of year, Flagstaff usually receives about 30 inches for the season.

We want to hear from you.
