It’s the holidays, which means you’re probably looking for some entertainment to stream on either Netflix, Hulu or Amazon Prime.

While we were hoping for a slew of new Christmas titles for the month of December, I’m here to tell you most of the Christmas movies currently streaming are downright awful.

Here we go, the best new titles streaming this December:

Netflix

“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2”

The galaxy’s oddest team of superheroes is back at it in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” and you can now watch their shenanigans on Netflix.

The second outing for the Guardians didn’t quite live up to the first film, and it has some moments where it dragged, but overall the jokes landed, the chemistry worked and the opening scene was amazing.

I have a feeling a lot of you are going to be streaming this more than once in the coming weeks.

“The Crown” Season 2

I don’t know where our insatiable hunger for all things royals comes from, but most of the planet has it and now you can whet that appetite somewhat this month with season two of “The Crown.”

Season one was a taut drama with stellar performances, intriguing storylines and impeccable costumes and sets. We all hope season two will offer more of the same and we’ll find out for sure on Friday.

“The Santa Clause” 1-3

Ready to get your Christmas on?

Netflix will be streaming all three “The Santa Clause” movies starting Dec. 12, and while they’re not great films, they are certainly head and shoulders above a majority of the Hallmark-type Christmas offerings currently available to stream.

The first film is still the best and then things just get progressively worse from there. So if you don’t make it through the whole trilogy, I wouldn’t worry too much, but at least you can get one good family movie night out of it.

“Nacho Libre”

I know “Nacho Libre” has been on Netflix for awhile, but recently it was taken off, so I thought it was my responsibility to let you know it’s back in all its absurdity.

My guess is “Nacho Libre” is not for everyone, but if you’re anything like me, then it is very much for you. This movie is quoted in my home on a regular basis and always seems worth a watch.

Because I haven’t heard, “That’s good toast,” “I believe in science” and “We can see you from the village” inside the safe confines of my abode in far too long, I’ll likely be watching this one soon.

Hulu

“The Count of Monte Cristo”

The 2002 version of “The Count of Monte Cristo” doesn’t have great reviews, but I don’t care, I love this movie. Jim Caviezel and Guy Pearce are perfect in their roles and the movie is a swashbuckling tale of revenge, love and honor.

The film doesn’t stay as true to its source material as some had hoped and it’s not quite as good as some other versions, but it’s a lot of fun and that’s what I care about.

This is a fun movie night and one I’m looking forward to.

“Dirty Rotten Scoundrels”

It’s hard not to love vintage Steve Martin and even harder not to love him in “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.” The quirky comedy includes hilarious performances from both Martin and Michael Caine and a ridiculous storyline filled with double crosses, long cons and Ruprecht— all of which make for an absurd con-man film worth a watch.

“Penelope”

The 2006 comedy “Penelope” isn’t a well-known movie, but it is a sweet and cute film that I believe many of you will enjoy.

The film is about a young aristocratic heiress born under a curse that can only be broken when she finds true love with “one who will accept her as one of their own.”

Yes, it sounds cliché and like any other fairy tale you’ve ever seen, but this one has a modern twist and ends up being a great date night movie.

Amazon

“Rocky” I-V

“Rocky” is headed to Amazon Prime Video, which means you can have an amazing weekend filled with a couple of really great films, one ridiculously entertaining film on the border of being so bad it’s good, and two pretty bad movies.

What else can I say here? Just make it a Rocky weekend.

“It Comes at Night”

Halloween is over, but December still seems like a good time to get totally creeped out and psychologically messed with. If this sounds like fun, then check out “It Comes At Night” on Dec. 10 when it comes to Amazon Prime Video.

The movie came out earlier this year and stars Joel Edgerton as he and his family are secure within a desolate home while an unnatural threat terrorizes the world. A man has established a tenuous domestic order with his wife and son, but then a desperate young family arrives seeking refuge.

“It Comes At Night” is rated R for violence, disturbing images and language.
