PHOENIX — A group of Arizona residents is holding a tribute for victims of a Las Vegas shooting that killed 59 people and injured 489 more at a restaurant in Chandler on Saturday.

The event, titled “Arizona’s Tribute to the Route 91 Festival Tragedy,” will be held from noon to 7 p.m. at Tom Ryan’s Saloon in Chandler, according to a Facebook event page.

The event organizers, Hayley Boult, Joel Maze and Eddie Smith, said they were all in attendance when Stephen Paddock opened fire on 22,000 concertgoers from a room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino.

In an event description on the page, Boult, Maze and Smith said all they thought about on the “quiet and depressing drive back home was how we could give back to the victims and their families affected by this terrible act.”

“In order to help those affected we are hosting a benefit concert to collect donations for the Las Vegas Victims Fund. This donation is going to be direct and it is a way to show our love and support for everyone effected,” part of the description read.

As part of the tribute, 12 local musicians or bands, including Velvet Elvis, Aaron Ricker, and Kassi and Jesse Marks, food trucks, kids activities and raffle items from local companies will be available for the community, the event page read.

And for those who will not be able to attend, the event organizers are encouraging them to contribute to a GoFundMe fundraiser for the victims. The fundraiser, which was started by Clark County Commissioner Steve Sisolak, has raised more than $9.5 million.

At least 100 people said they would be able to attend on the Facebook event page.

We’d like to see our community come together in support of all those affected,” part of the event page read.

We want to hear from you.
