PHOENIX — Former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio praised the decision by President Donald Trump to pardon him from a criminal contempt of court conviction on Friday.
Arpaio was found guilty in July of criminal contempt of court for ignoring court orders and prolonging his controversial immigration sweeps for 17 months after being directed to stop them.
The former sheriff was pardoned by Trump on Friday, making him an innocent man. Several Arizona lawmakers praised the move, but others condemned it.
In a series of tweets, Arpaio thanked the president for “seeing my conviction for what it is: a political witch hunt by holdovers in the Obama justice department!”

A GREAT day for all law-abiding citizens, and another very rough day for leftist loons like Stanton and Gallego that coddle the mmiilllions of Illegal Alien criminals and think that those criminals are "above the law".
Thank You President Trump!
Excellent point! DemocRATs have no problem with the Sanctuary City agenda and that is clearly breaking the law.
