PHOENIX — There’s a better alternative than throwing out old Christmas trees in the garbage.
The Public Works Department is offering Phoenix residents a more Eco-friendly way in disposing their Christmas trees and wreaths. People can drop off trees and wreaths at any of these participating Phoenix parks anytime between Dec. 27 and Jan. 8.
However, there are guidelines for when the tree is dropped off for recycling. Please make sure the tree is unbagged, removed of all decorations and any nails or metal stakes.
In addition, there will be a recycling festival from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7 at the Christown-Spectrum Mall, where residents can drop off their trees.
The department also encourages the public to recycle all holiday waste, such as wrapping paper, gift bags and lights.
