British Airways adds more summer flights between Phoenix, London

PHOENIX — Those looking to escape the Arizona summer heat in favor of an escape to England will have a few more flight options.
British Airways will increase the number of flights between the Valley and London during May and June, Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport said in a Tuesday press release.
During those months, British Airways will fly three additional flights per week to the English capital from Sky Harbor, bringing the total number of weekly flights to 10.
Mayor Greg Stanton said he is excited for the new routes and expects his city will benefit economically.
“The current daily flight by British Airways adds $100 million to our economy each year, so this new flight is a welcome addition to that impact and another sign of the strength of our growing market,” he said in a press release.
City Councilman Daniel Valenzuela said he hopes other airlines take notice of the success of the Phoenix-London route when they consider adding destinations to their flight plans.
“As the Valley adds jobs that require international travel, and as Phoenix becomes more competitive in the global economy and household incomes rise to enable more residents to be able to afford international travel, I am confident that the airlines will see Phoenix as a sure bet to add additional routes,” he said.
Tickets for the new flights are available on British Airways’ website.
