Getting tired of drinking the everyday domestic draft beer? Taste-test DC Mountain and Tower Station, the best beers that Arizona has to offer according to Men’s Journal.
Listing the 101 best beers in America, these two beers rose above the rest for Men’s Journal. Brewed by Arizona Wilderness Brewing, DC Mountain is an Imperial IPA and Men’s Journal thinks this brew is a can’t-miss for people in Phoenix.
AWB may only produce a couple thousand barrels of beer each year — but all of it is damned good. At the top of this young brewery’s menu is DC Mountain Double IPA, a dank hop-ucopia packed with Centennial, Chinook, Columbus, Citra and Cascade cones. It’s an absolute must-try for those passing through the greater Phoenix area.
The second best Arizona brew, Tower Station, is an American IPA brewed by Mother Road Brewing. Tower Station is the first Mother Road beer distributed in a can. Mother Road beers are named by honoring Route 66, and Tower Station follows the trend; Tower Station was a service station and restaurant on Route 66 that opened in 1936.
This unusual, unfiltered India pale ale is built like the hoppy equivalent of a cloudy German hefeweizen. Though Tower Station doesn’t pick up the banana and clove of that hazy wheat style, a pleasant yeasty, earthy undertone rounds out the big, bitter pine and grapefruit hops.
Whether you’re a beer aficionado or a casual drinker, these two brews should be atop the list of delicacies to try in Arizona.
