5 reasons to love the D-backs this season

Baseball season is underway and the D-backs set the tone with their Opening Day win against the San Francisco Giants. We’ll have to wait and see what the season holds for 2017, but either way, here are five good reasons to love the D-backs.

It’s good for the community

The Arizona Diamondback Foundation was established in 1997 and has made charitable contributions totaling more than $45 million to non-profit organizations from across Arizona. The Foundation distributes funds through our Community Grants, and Grand Slam Awards, Diamonds Back Field Building, Education Initiatives, Youth Baseball and Outreach programs. So, when you go to the game, you can feel great knowing you are supporting a team that does so much for the community.

The food

One of the best things about going to a baseball game is the food. With fan favorites like the Churro Dog 2.0 and Funnel Cake Chicken Sandwich, you won’t leave the stadium feeling hungry.

Young players

The D-backs are a young team. In fact, according to ESPN, they were the youngest team in 2016, with only four players over 30 years old. Last year’s struggles were a necessary part of the development process. Over time, though, you’ll learn to love those players more when you’ve watched them fail and improve over and over again. That’s the beauty of baseball. As fans watch young players come into their own, the pains of development seem to fade. And with the whole team doing it at the same time, you could get some exciting games this year.

Individual milestones

Even if a team plays poorly, it’s always exciting to watch individual players stand out. For example, will Goldschmidt hit .300 again? Who will hit more home runs, Lamb or Yasmany Tomas? Will Robbie Ray top his 218 strikeout total from the 2016 season?

It’s impossible to predict the future, but you may end up kicking yourself if you miss out on some special performances by some of the D-backs All-Star players.

It’s fun for the whole family
