Democratic incumbent Jack Reed won election Tuesday to the U.S. Senate representing Rhode Island, defeating Republican Raymond McKay. Reed will return to the Senate for a sixth term. A critic of President Donald Trump, he serves as the ranking Democrat on the Senate Armed Services Committee. McKay, like Reed, is an Army veteran. McKay also worked as a network and telecommunications manager for the city of Warwick, Rhode Island, for nearly three decades. The Associated Press declared Reed the winner at 8:01 p.m. EST.
