Sharper Point: Is the Ted Cruz affair tabloid headline accurate?

There's a lot of hubbub about a tabloid story claiming Ted Cruz has had multiple affairs. It may have been leaked by Donald Trump's people, but is it true?

This may come as a shock to many of you out there — especially the conspiracy theorists — but just because I work in the media doesn’t mean I know everything.

Sure, I keep up to date on information more than the average Joe, but there’s a lot out there in today’s world, especially as tabloids get more and more popular.

And this will come as an even bigger surprise — again, especially to conspiracy theorists — but a lot of what you read just isn’t true.

Take, for example, all the hubbub about Donald Trump and Ted Cruz and allegations that the latter has had multiple affairs.

This was printed in the National Enquirer, which is a tabloid. There’s allegation that Trump’s campaign planted the story, as this was shortly after the two began sparring over their wives.

But that doesn’t mean the story is false. Maybe Trump was using something that actually happened to discredit a political opponent. It wouldn’t be the first time.

So I decided to take a look at more of the Enquirer’s headlines. After all, even if they have a sensational headline but get a story wrong once in a while, there still may be a modicum of truth to the tale, right?

Here’s a rundown of some of the latest headlines:

“Angelina Jolie anorexia crisis — down to 79 lbs!”

“Makeup-free Chelsea Clinton looks like ‘real’ dad”

“Caitlyn Jenner shows her legs on the links”

I think we have our answer, folks. It sounds like the Cruz affairs are just another sordid tabloid rumor.
