On this week's edition of AZ Political Podcast, Thomas Galvin discusses public funding for sports teams and how election results can be sped up.

Watch: Maricopa Board of Supervisors role in Chase Field renovations bill, proposed early voting changes | 34 mins

PHOENIX — On this week’s AZ Political Podcast, Thomas Galvin, chairman of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, talks with me about public funding of professional sports, making election results faster to access and what role the government of the fourth-most populous county in the U.S. plays in public safety and education.

A big part in the former — and virtually none in the latter, by the way.

Supervisor Galvin, who represents about 900,000 residents in Maricopa County’s District 2 (located in the northeastern part of the Valley), tells me how his experience as a land use attorney negotiating the city of Phoenix‘s lease extension of Footprint Center with the Suns is helping him work on behalf of the county on a lease agreement with the Diamondbacks for Chase Field.

He also expressed his interest in reviving a National Hockey League franchise in Maricopa County.

We also talk about a couple of bills at the Legislature that he’s hoping will lead to having 95% of Maricopa County’s election results available by the end of election night — and why Arizona’s “swing-state” status makes that so important.

At the cost of voter suppression, I can wait.
Meanwhile, Trump takes over the preforming arts. He will control everything before he’s done. The Fascist dictator will likely remove any team members who don’t kiss the ring , the stadiums and teams will be renamed to include “Trump” or “musk” maybe “Mump stadium” or “the Phoenix Tusks”
President Donald Trump announced an aggressive plan Friday evening to gut the existing board of trustees at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and oust its chairman, billionaire philanthropist David Rubenstein, a remarkable move aimed at remaking the nation’s cultural center.

Trump said he would be appointing himself as chairman of the board.

“At my direction, we are going to make the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., GREAT AGAIN. I have decided to immediately terminate multiple individuals from the Board of Trustees, including the Chairman, who do not share our Vision for a Golden Age in Arts and Culture,” Trump said in a post to Truth Social. “We will soon announce a new Board, with an amazing Chairman, DONALD J. TRUMP!”
