With the federal government shutdown dragging on … and on (now headed into a second month), some folks feel like Washington needs a sheriff to ride into town, round up the desperados of D.C., and corral Congress — so they’ll do their job.
Former Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb, my guest on the AZ Political Podcast this week, is hoping he can rope in Arizona’s 5th Congressional District seat so he can be the guy who grabs the Beltway by the horns.
OK, maybe he’ll leave the rope at home while campaigning over the next year, but I guarantee he won’t leave the hat behind. In fact, he wore it during our conversation.
It may have been a statement against the old saying “all hat, no cattle” — and we certainly tackled many issues facing Arizona and the nation. We hit on why he got into law enforcement (something he entered later in life); why he decided to leave law enforcement behind in order to craft laws; and how what he faced in law enforcement — and in a very personal family tragedy — will shape his potential law-making career.
