This week, I had the chance to chat with one of the most genuinely amazing people I’ve met — and it happened on the AZ Political Podcast with someone who’s spent most of her life in politics, a field not exactly known for authenticity.

Former Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer joins me to talk about the pivotal election year of 2026 — when nearly every office she once held in Arizona, including state House and Senate seats, secretary of state and governor, will be on the ballot (with the exception of county supervisor).

Despite some expected bias — she’s a Republican and co-chairs Karrin Taylor Robson’s gubernatorial campaign — Arizona’s 22nd governor offers her candid take on who she believes will win each race.

We also dive into what first motivated her to enter politics in the early ’80s, her thoughts on how men and women may have different reasons for running and her unique place in Arizona’s history of women governors — a legacy that goes beyond the fact that our state has had more female chief executives than any other.

Whether it’s in front of cameras, on the radio or outside the grocery store, talking with Jan Brewer is always a pleasure. After listening to this episode, I think you’ll agree.

The AZ Political Podcast is available at KTAR.com, the KTAR News app and everywhere you get your podcasts.

Remember when...
Jan Brewer shook a boney finger in front of a sitting president's face in front of the whole nation/world!?!
Like a shoe thrown at President Bush from an angry foreigner, this was, in the modern era, the beginnings of a trend to show open and unabashed disrespect to the leader of our nation.
It's been downhill since then.
Thanks, Jan!
