PHOENIX — A 37-year-old Mexican man was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Tuesday for his connection to a drug distribution scheme and his own reentry into the U.S. after he had been removed in 2019.
Jesus Alejandro Bojorquez-Moreno was arrested near Douglas in June 2023 for illegal entry, as he was without “legal authorization to return,” according to the U.S Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona.
Bojorquez-Moreno pleaded guilty to charges including conspiracy to distribute heroin and fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and reentry of a removed person.
What drug distribution scheme did the Mexican man plead guilty to?
Bojorquez-Moreno orchestrated five deals between June and September 2022 involving bulk quantities of heroin and fentanyl where undercover federal agents represented the buyers, authorities said.
He ran negotiations for the deal, setting delivery locations in Tucson and Indianapolis.
The undercover agents seized about 10 kilograms of heroin and 100,000 fentanyl pills before Bojorquez-Moreno ceased communications with them.
