PHOENIX — U.S. Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona is questioning the Department of Homeland Security after a federal officer fatally shot a woman on Wednesday during an immigration crackdown in Minnesota.

“I am really concerned about what Kristi Noem and DHS has done in these communities by sending dozens, hundreds of people in there, going after people in their community who are no threat to society,” Kelly told CNN on Wednesday.

He spoke after an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer shot a driver in a residential neighborhood south of downtown Minneapolis. The shooting took place around a mile away from where police killed George Floyd in 2020, according to The Associated Press.

Federal officials called the killing an act of self-defense, but Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey described it as reckless, telling ICE to “get the f— out of here.”

Kelly said he understands the mayor’s frustration.

The immigration activities in Minneapolis were part of a widespread ICE crackdown. Kelly said DHS and President Donald Trump need to consider if this is the right approach.

“This is not what he ran on,” Kelly said. “He said he was going to be removing gang members and criminals and from our communities. ICE is going after just like regular people: moms, folks who are — obviously they’re undocumented — but they’re no threat to society.”

He hopes nothing like this happens in Arizona, which, according to recent reports, is going to be the next hotspot of ICE activity.

“I am seriously concerned about them going in there and terrorizing communities,” Kelly said. “I would like to see, you know, ICE, not repeat what is going on in Minneapolis and other cities.”

Thanks for admitting that you begrudgingly agree with me. We all know what these comments mean. You cant poke holes in what was said, so you try to discredit the individual instead of the statement (aka the whole debate philosophy of this lunatic left).

I appreciate your (begrudging) support.
