Main Street Minute: Scottsdale steakhouse owners start new venture

The team behind a pair of popular Valley restaurants that focus on steak are going to open a seafood place in Scottsdale next year.

KTAR’s Main Street Minute focuses on local businesses that are hiring, opening and hosting events across the community. These stories air each weekday on KTAR at 7:27 a.m.

• The founders of popular Valley restaurants Steak 44 and Dominick’s Steakhouse have announced plans for an upscale seafood restaurant in Scottsdale. Ocean 44 is scheduled to open next year at the former Harkin’s Camelview space.

• The Salvation Army’s Kroc Center in Phoenix has received a $20,000 grant from Fiesta Bowl charities. The money will be used to expand the center’s water safety program for kindergarten through second grade students to take swim lessons.

Phoenix Center for the Arts will host an open house Saturday. Kids and adults can try their hand at any of the free workshops including dance, theater, mosaics and jewelry-making. The event runs from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. near Third and Roosevelt streets.
